A FEW weeks ago, I took a relative to the walk-in centre in Eastham after she injured her foot.

On arrival I realised that the parking bay had double yellow lines painted on the area.

As she was unable to walk, I parked and went inside to ask for the use of a wheelchair, but the walk-in centre doesn't possess one.

With great difficulty, we managed to get her inside and when I returned to the car the parking warden was photographing the illegally-parked car.

Not sure what the legal procedure should have been.

To add insult to injury, the patient was prescribed anti-inflammatory medication, but the following day it was found to be a fractured ankle, cracked heel and smashed metatarsal bones, requiring surgery.

People attending the walk-in centre are obviously ill and we presumably are not the only ones requiring a wheelchair.

Why are double yellow lines needed in the area outside the main door.
