ENOUGH is enough.
It is with regret I find myself writing this letter.
Recently a person known to me was fined £80 in B&Q car park, Bidston, off the M53 for dropping a cigarette butt. Where are the signs warning of this practice?
Wirral Council have many dog-fouling signs across Wirral.
We all know dropping litter is unacceptable, but this fine is very extreme. What about a first offence warning? The person concerned is given 10 to 14 days to pay.
If paid within this timescale the fine is reduced to £60. I am a non-smoker but I find this fine extortionate.
Wirral Council cannot police dog fouling or collect unpaid council tax so let's hit the smokers (again).
Along with many others, I am a full council tax payer and I find this fine unacceptable.
Please Wirral Council, tell me where the fines end up and is this practice legal?
The person fined was warned if the fine isn't paid it would result in a criminal record.
What a joke!
