I AM appalled at the wholly inadequate response of the Government’s response to the refugee crisis.

I do recognise the efforts to direct help to the countries of origin.

But aid pumped into Syria or to the camps in neighbouring countries can be no more than palliatives.

Until the various, mostly civil, wars are stopped, and people are able to vote freely to elect democratic governments, many tens of thousands are not going to be safe, or able to live normal lives in their countries of origin.

It is our shame to be shown up by Germany.

Government is being led by a minority of Little Englanders.

Immigrants have, over the centuries, immeasurably enriched this country.

Let that continue.
