I AM the grandson of Margaret and Bryan College, the subjects of your online story headlined Grandparents trapped for two hours after floods take hold of Greasby home.

The real story behind this incident is the complete failure of Wirral Council to act after many reports by local residents over the last ten years.

The solution to the flooding around Joan Avenue in Greasby is for the council to actually place proper drainage channels that flow into the storm drain on Joan Avenue, allowing the area around the bowling greens in Coronation Park to actually drain, rather than flooding onto the avenue causing such drastic problems.

I hope the council are suitably ashamed of themselves having caused two long-term residents of Greasby to suffer such stress and heartache due to their lack of action.

No one should have to suffer such pain especially not at my grandparents’ age simply because their local authority has let them down so badly.
