PUBLIC Health England's suggestion of prescribing e-cigarettes on the NHS should been cautiously welcomed.
PHE says the devices are 95% less harmful than tobacco and suggests vaping could be a “game changer” for helping people to give up smoking. I’m glad to see an institution like PHE make such a declaration about e-cigarettes after some needless scare-mongering about vaping.
However, I am concerned this suggestion of NHS involvement with vaping chimes too much with what the European Union has been saying. Are we once more dancing to the EU’s tune?
