IN reply to the letter by Colin Brook headlined More access for disabled fans in last week's Globe, I would like to add my weight behind what he says.

Sadly, everything Colin states is correct and these Premier League clubs who are spending millions on players, but making millions in TV rights, still have not put in adequate facilities for disabled users and their families which just a small percentage of their profit could provide.

Research over the past ten years and guidelines issued by many organisations have still not moved these clubs into action.

Recently in the Houses of Parliament a bill had its second reading to make clubs provide the correct facilities, yet both of our big two on Merseyside, Everton and Liverpool, languish near the bottom of the “Accessibility League Table” and it is not good enough.

All respect to Tranmere Rovers, who on a very limited budget are trying their upmost to do their bit in conjunction with their Disabled Supporters Association.

Liverpool are addressing the issue and are one of only two Premier League clubs that have provided a changing places toilet.

With the redevelopment of the main stand, they will be getting close to providing the correct number of spaces and facilities for the disabled, either ambulant or wheelchair-bound.

The excuse that the ground is too old to be altered or too difficult to modernise won’t wash with the authorities any more.

So please get behind this and lobby our local clubs to ensure they make every effort to provide correct facilities for the disabled.
