REGARDING your request for ideas on tackling litter on the Wirral I would propose that in tandem with the “zero tolerance crackdown approach” the borough promotes a team approach by bringing together the public sector, private sector and householders in a “working together to win” programme, getting us all involved in solving this problem.
This would encourage all three sectors to regularly keep the frontage of their business premises, public buildings and individual households clear of litter.
This joined up “teamwork approach” would I believe go a long way to improving the litter problem and clean up the urban aspects of the borough. Maybe Wirral Council could even engender a competitive element to this idea by instigating a “cleanest area of the month award”?
