I AM appalled that a decision of closure is looming for Upton and West Kirby fire stations.
Fire fighters are devalued by governments, they cost and do not produce, as do police and ambulance service therefore these services are targeted for cuts.
As the widow of a firefighter from Upton station I really feel strongly that they are doing the wrong thing.
Upton is two minutes from Arrowe Park Hospital, and I know how quickly a fire can spread.
Surely it is more beneficial for them to be close, every minute counts and those minutes can mean life or death.
How about we cut non-essential services, needless bureaucracy, if someone wants to change a lightbulb let them do it don’t get two managers to sign it off.
Don’t pay thousands for some totally useless piece of tin to indicate your entering New Brighton (you have to be pretty dim not to work that out).
In my world my bills and food are paid first, then if there is any left over ill buy a dress. Common sense?
