I WOULD like to make your readers aware of what the council is doing to our open spaces.

The playing field on Greenbank Road has been leased to two amateur football clubs and they have had fences set up around the once-open fields.

This field is designated as an open space for the public to use, but the football club have now started locking all the gates, stopping local residents from using the field.

Where is the accountability?

This is us losing our green open spaces bit by bit.

It has been locked for several weeks now, local residents who used to use it for playing ball, walking the dog are now locked out.
