Imagine going to a sea rescue and asking a drunken man "do you have a credit or debit card?" and answering "no - then we can’t rescue you".
How absurd. They are doing a public service and not getting paid for it. All right, they got the money back and it’s only once a year, but where are the street sweepers?
Oh, there aren’t any because private companies run the waste system now.
Why are we paying council tax?
If we put the wrong rubbish in the bin, we get charged.
Bin men these days don't have to carry heavy, stinking bins with all sorts of rubbish running down; they don't even lift them, they're on wheels and if the lid is open and too much rubbish is inside, they leave it, saying it's too heavy.
