REMEMBER Clochemerle and Private Godfrey in Dad's Army?

You can't be "excused" in Greasby or Upton villages where there are no toilets available to the general public.

No matter what your age, medical condition or disabilities, if nature calls when you are out and about, you just have to hope that you can make it home.

Although there is no statutory duty for local authorities to provide public toilets, the government response to the Communities and Local Government Committee report on the provision of public toilets (2009) made it clear that this is a serious public health issue which can adversely affect quality of life for vulnerable groups.

The response recommended that councils, in partnership with private concerns, should establish community toilet schemes.

Could Wirral Council introduce similar schemes in Greasby and Upton, accessible at least during the main shopping hours of 9am to 1pm?
