ON Tuesday evening there were a number of cars vandalised by a group of youths both male and female in New Brighton.

My car window was shattered, also the window of an elderly neighbour’s car - he has a heart condition and needs his vehicle - along with damage to other vehicles in the area.

Although this cost me financially and in terms of inconvenience, and there is no excuse for this sort of criminal behaviour.

I do feel New Brighton is in need of some kind of community centres/sports projects, maybe table tennis local football teams created etc youth leaders, workshops something to discourage youths from hanging round, and maybe getting into bad company.

I know the initial response will be “there’s no money available” but what about the cost of the police - and possibly hospitals - and pushing up people’s car insurance premiums, and the reputation of the area?

New Brighton is being regenerated but both the youth crime and drug problem seems to be on going here. Maybe we need some community spirit here like in other areas and work with the police to get on top of this spiralling crime trend.
