WIRRAL Lions would like to thank the people of Wirral for contributing the magnificent total of £8,889 to our collection during the period before Christmas.

The support we received taking Santa round the district in the evenings and outside supermarkets during the day was excellent.

The funds raised will be used, as usual, to help a range of good causes – mainly in this locality, but also including some carefully chosen charities abroad, such as the Ebola outbreak in Africa.

Your readers may also like to know that we spent £1,000 on food hampers for needy local families and individuals to make Christmas a little more cheerful.

We would also like to thank Asda, Tesco and Sainsbury's for their continuing support. For more on the Lions, call 334 3044.
