FOLLOWING the recent letter complaining about the number of traffic lights between Upton and Birkenhead, a view I support, cannot the timing of lights, especially after, say 8pm, be better phased to take account of the traffic flow, or lack of it?
Every car driver will have been frustrated waiting at red lights when all four roads at crossroads are free of traffic.
I’m sure that any change in the present system that would enable people to get from A to B safely and more quickly would be appreciated by everyone.
How about a trial of yellow-flashing lights at crossroads late at night which would allow drivers to proceed with caution, as in the United States.
That would only be like treating crossroads as roundabouts.
Can I also ask that pedestrians do not press the button at pedestrian crossings and then subsequently cross due to a lack of traffic, thereby leaving later drivers stuck at a red light and no pedestrian to be seen.
It would all help to keep the traffic moving.
