I AM fuming that Wirral Council and West Cheshire are to sell off Arrowe Park, Brackenwood and The Warrens golf courses. But I am not surprised.
This year I played the three courses and was taken aback by the poor state of repair and maintenance of all three.
Most of my friends and I started off playing golf at these courses, where will the next generation of golfers come from?
Councillor Stuart Parker has stated that many private sector courses are providing “pay and play” rates that compete with the municipal courses.
This is true. So if the municipals are sold off to the private sector, what would be the cost to play then?
They would want a return on the investment made, this could only be achieved by selling off the land or redeveloping them.
