IT IS interesting that Wirral Council is looking to replace its chief executive.
I would like to be with these public servants for one week for them to try to justify a salary of £3,000 a week to me.
Exactly what do these people do for 40 hours a week? Years ago they were lucky to be on £20,000 a year.
They had 10 times more staff to look after, thousands of council houses, schools, etc.
So it seems as their duties reduced tenfold, their wages actually increased by the same tenfold.
It’s about time local businessmen got involved and showed these people how to run an organisation on a budget.
No doubt the present chief executive will take his money and move to another public sector position.
