WIRRAL Council is now partway through its consultation on spending and services.

A vast number of residents have received e-mails from the council – using names harvested from contacts over the years.

Previous consultations have led to 5,000 or 6,000 responses, with residents replying on the issues that concern them most.

Ideas which were rejected in the past are back on the list, yet again.

It looks as though parts of the council did not like the answers people gave last time, so are trying again.

People have seen some of this before and have seen through it.

Removing many crossing patrols, taking away many grit bins, reducing library hours in many communities, running down youth clubs, charging for parking in the country parks, these have all been put up and knocked down in the past.

Someone in the council must think that asking the same questions will, one day, produce the answers that fit some grand master plan.

I hope people will tell the council what they think.

Wirral has to get the basics right.

Leader of Wirral Liberal Democrats.
