CONGRATULATIONS to everybody who made the recent Open Golf Championship such a success and helped generate much-needed money into the local economy.
I hope the trickle-down effect takes place and other parts of Wirral will benefit as well as Hoylake, especially Port Sunlight – as the so-called “Jewel in the Crown” is looking tarnished and run down.
The flower beds opposite the railway station are a barren waste, signposts are dirty and ruststrewn, grass growing through the pavements, benches in the Diamond have been left to look shabby.
It's not the sort of picture to be presented to the visitors to village.
R Furnival, Port Sunlight.
