THIS is a warning to all Oxton residents – never say yes to any cold caller.
I broke this rule on Monday, July 21.
Three men offered to clean my gutters. Although I asked for a quote, I was distracted by idle talk.
When I persisted, I was told they would know when they weighed the bucket.
When the boss came down the ladder, I was shocked to be told to pay £750.
This was only for half of the gutter. When I refused, the price dropped to £550, then £350, with verbal undertones, then finally £300, with a lift to the bank.
I feel guilt and anger at my own stupidity. If they return, I will be on my guard. I will find their details and report them.
I feel guilty knowing other trusting people will be conned.
Angry pensioner, Oxton.
