LAST weekend my wife and I paid a visit to New Brighton.

The weather was fabulous and the place was packed.

As we passed the model boating lake we were amazed to see around 30 children swimming in it, aged from nine to 15. They were obviously enjoying themselves.

There happened to be a model boat enthusiast standing there with his boat unable to launch it, but he somehow showed pleasure in the fact that these children were enjoying themselves so much.

I think it’s so sad that we no longer have an outdoor swimming pool anywhere on Wirral and Merseyside and kids have to resort to a stagnant model boat lake.

Why didn’t the so-called pathetic “New Brighton new development plan” consider such a simple need for kids (and adults) for our warmer climates?
