WITH reference to the letter from P Montoya regarding dogs on the beach at New Brighton, your correspondent states that she would not sit on the sand with her children due to the fact that dogs foul it regularly.
Firstly, I take my dog on this beach twice a day.
I always clear up after my dog.
Is P Montoya not aware that the good Lord has blessed us with a tide twice a day that cleans the beach after any irresponsible dog-owner or stray may leave a mess?
Secondly, during most family events on the beach, most people use either deck chairs or blankets to sit on, thereby eradicating P Montoya’s problem.
Please give some credence to beach users who are down there twice a day, 365 days a year, not just the beach-users who only appear in the sunshine.
Ian Thornton, New Brighton.
