I MUST take issue with the person who wrote to your paper to complain that her mother was confined to her house for the whole day of the races.
I am a resident in Port Sunlight and can assure you all residents had maps and details of parking for the day of the races and the times roads would be closed - along with areas of parking.
However, if for some reason they couldn’t comply they were given a number to ring and they would be helped. The day before the races we were all given a reminder.
I for one (registered disabled) thought it was a wonderful day, so many people enjoying themselves and children cheering on “daddy.”
The atmosphere was one of so much happiness and laughter. I thought it was lovely to share our village with people who are not resident.
Fair play. Complain when justified, not just to be a killjoy.
