THE recent death of Tony Benn brought back for me memories from some years ago, when the Liverpool dockers were on strike.
"WOW" Women Of The Waterfront – the wives and partners of the striking dockers - went down to London to march in support of their men.
The journalist John Pilger, who had been campaigning in support of the dockers, and Tony Benn led the march from Hyde Park to Holborn on a sunny Saturday afternoon.
Tony Benn will be remembered with deep affection by many people on Merseyside.
