I AM saddened by the reports of felling of mature trees in Wirral north and south (Wirral Globe March 19).
Since 2010 there has been a steady removal of healthy trees from the streets of Wirral.
In my area of Wallasey I have counted six from Mount Road, Earlston Road and Warren Drive.
Fourteen more were removed from the Hamilton Road tree preservation site for the provision of much needed social housing.
Pensby has suffered as well. One or two more are due to go for flats in New Brighton.
I know of no plans to replace any of these trees.
Added to this the bushes and trees in the planters in New Brighton are due to be removed soon for road widening.
Is this a plan to save on tree maintenance costs?
