Wirral Globe: Be wary of leashed dogs Be wary of leashed dogs

ALTHOUGH what happened to the Yorkie who was killed in Central Park is very sad, the dog should not have been allowed to run up to onleash dogs.

I never ever allow any of my dogs to pester leashed dogs; they are on the lead for a reason. perhaps the dog is aggressive, in training, disabled, injured, old etc.

The minute the Staffie's owner shouted "no" surely you would recall your dog?

A similar case happened last year with a Chihuahua, who was mauled to death by a dog on lead.

My sympathies go out to the owner, but no crime has been committed.

I use to own a Staffordshire Terrier and on many occasion when my dog was on the lead other dogs were allowed by owners to come close to her. They would say it was okay, it was not okay as my dog would snap and snarl, hence her being on the lead.
