Blame Tory cuts for Wirral streetlights' switch-off

I WRITE in response to the article in the Wirral Globe regarding my decision to restore lighting to the North Wallasey Approach road.

I took this decision having listened to the concerns of roadusers.

Regarding the comments of Tory councillor Leah Fraser, it really is the height of hypocrisy for her to criticise me on this issue as Wirral Council, in common with many other local authorities in the north, is being forced to consider such measures due to the massive cuts which the Tory-led Government has made to our budget.

May I respectfully suggest that rather than criticising me, her time would be better spent lobbying her colleagues in government to reverse these damaging cuts?

Finally, Cllr Stuart Kelly is quite wrong. I did not over-rule my cabinet member on this matter as, unlike the Liberal Democrats, we work as a team.

Councillor Phil Davies, Leader of Wirral Council

Perhaps to save some more cash switch off the floodlights at the town hall, wallasey, theyre not needed and the streetlights on the shore side of leasowe road, then theres the ones on Meols prom that could be off as well.

Councillor Davies, sack the spin machine and re- engage with the people. The job you do is a privilege and should be treated as such.

In response to Councillor Davies letter in this weeks globe. I can only comment from my memory, for there are people out there with a longer memory than I. But in my 60 years out of my 62,on the wirral, it is clear that Labour politicians will never accept responsibility for what they cause.. It was the actions of the Labour Government and Labour Council between 1997 to 2010 that for the first time in my memory the Wirral was found in debt. To me once an area gets into debt, it simply drives industry away. Which won't come back until the area is out of debt. Our current government and tax payers can no longer afford too pay off the debts created my local government, so these cuts are necessary in order to get the country and indeed the Wirral back to winning ways. God forbid the Wirral never did have much in the way of Industry, but those that we did have were placed well to provide enough work for our population, until these borrowing councils placed the borough in debt, now they are no more. Besides the government cuts are designated at council expenditure not on the services that councils provide for council tax payers, as council tax receipts have not been cut, infact they have not even been frozen like the government instructed.

You could fill a Phone Box with the residents of Wirral who would believe any drivel emanation from from Phil the Flouter and his puppet master Slimy Steve, the whole of Wirral Electorate will rejoice when these two parasites finally get their marching orders.

Dear Wirral residents, if you were misguided enough to vote for either of these two Clowns, then you deserve all you get.

Notice how its never The Labour Party fault ? Its true the "Coalition" has put the squeeze on Wirral council but it has put the squeeze on all wasteful councils.
All Wirral council cuts have been made by the Labour party to cause as much pain to the most vulnerable in a despicable politically motivated way.
The poor vote Labour because they are poor and in doing so are voting to stay poor.
