Wirral in it together?

COUNCIL leaders Davies and Burgess were on BBC Merseyside on Friday, December 6, stating Wirral has lost half its money from central government in the past few years.

This may be true, but the areas they have selected for cuts so far fly in the face of even their own statements on what would be cut.

A promise to prioritise the elderly and vulnerable has gone by the board, and now the reckless decision to halve street-lighting in the borough, to save £85,000, compounds their folly.

Surely, a similar amount could be saved if the council demonstrates that "we are all in this together" by applying some austerity, by cutting out wastage at the town hall, and speaking with the Chinese over the internet, rather than going there in person!

Dear Editor, In a programme on TV 16th Dec 2013 it reported the abduction of Christian worshippers from a church in China by Chinese soldiers, it also showed a interview with a young Christian women who was in hiding, from the Chinese authorities scared for her li9fe.. I would be interested in the response from the Labour council leaders about the persecution of Christians in China considering the number of times they have visited China in an attempt to trade with them, do they by their actions condone this disgraceful behaviour of the Chinese or will they publically state, in this paper and condemn this terrible persecution of Christians in China.

If we are all in this together, when will the council cut the number of councillors, we do not need 3 per ward, one is ample.
Show the people of Wirral you are serious and make the cut.
