I READ with astonishment and anger in the Wirral Globe last week that Wirral Council is spending £850,000 on a staircase in Wallasey Town Hall.
In these unprecedented times of cuts to services and jobs loses to the people of Wirral, I find it hard to believe that the council can feel they can justify this amount of money. It is outrageous.
Wirral Council is making cuts to children's centres of £500,000. This will include staff loses, and services reduced.
So £500,000 cut from early intervention for children - and £850,000 spent on a staircase. I am outraged as a parent that they believe a staircase is more important than our children.
Certainly shows where Wirral Council’s priorities lie.
