No follow-up on Wirral fly-tipping tip
1:57pm Tuesday 17th September 2013 in Letters
I WAS recently walking with my wife on Whitfield Common in Heswall.
As we left to go home, we disturbed two men in a large van who were fly-tipping.
Realising we could see what they up to, the van doors were slammed shut and the vehicle exited the car park at high speed.
Having written down the vehicle details, I phoned the police and explained what we had witnessed and was told we needed to call the council.
I rang the number for Street Scene given to me by police and relayed all that we had seen. I was reassured a council enforcement officer would be in touch first thing.
Needless to say, several weeks after the incident, no one has been in touch.
So I have a message for any would-be fly tippers – tip what you want, when you want – even if you’re caught red-handed no one will do anything about it.
