Driving standards are deteriorating
1:54pm Tuesday 17th September 2013 in Letters
IN response to G Holden, who could well be one of the "Me" generation that my letter was about, I would like to remind him/her that the flashing of lights serves one purpose only – and that is to attract the attention of other road users.
Whenever I flash my lights it is to do just that, as I then signal, by hand, to the individual I am givingway to, but time again it is the selfish individual who jumps in and takes advantage of my generosity.
If you continue to be concerned that the vehicle turning out of Lees Lane may be hit by one that is under-taking you, then you have a simple answer at your disposal, stay a little way off the centre of the A540 to prevent such action, and you will be doing everyone a favour.
I have made use of Lees Lane for the last 49 years, invariably turning right towards Chester — oh, how I have watched driving standards and courtesy deteriorate over that time !
