Youngsters have nothing to do in New Brighton
1:06pm Tuesday 10th September 2013 in Letters
REGARDING Cllr Glassman’s recent letter about "Youths who have little idea of how to occupy themselves more positively" in New Brighton.
Councillors are always happy to write letters about "trouble-causing" youths, but they are NOT all trouble-makers.
What is there to do in New Brighton for teenagers that does not cost £6 upwards to do?
The council closes youth centres etc and allows ten-plus restaurants/bars to open, where teenagers cannot go.
The money generated into New Brighton is going towards people who already have money.
There has often been talk of a leisure centre being opened that could be used by people of all ages, but what do we get - bars for adults and a ball-pond for kids.
What about the 11-to-17 year olds?
I have been down New Brighton and seen lots of gangs, but they are not vandals.
STOP picking on youths...I have seen some very bad behaviour from adults.
