Globe reader's got the 'summertime blues'
11:12am Tuesday 27th August 2013 in Letters
THIS is my dream of summertime…
Long, sunlit evenings sitting in the garden, watching butterflies dancing on the warm air, feeding on the buddleia.
Young blackbirds being fed by parents who are already, this year, on their fifth brood.
Bees are busying themselves with the pollen on our flowers.
Squirrels are already burying peanuts in preparation for winter.
Nature is wonderful. Soon to come are the bats.
The kids next door can’t talk, only shout and scream. Across the way is the curse of those seeking peace and quiet. They and their neighbours each have a trampoline for the kids.
SUMMERTIME – close the windows and doors and pray for rain.
Roll on winter, but before that we have evenings, which are dark.
Good heavens, these so-and-sos have security lights to keep the annoyance going.
