'Heartening' opposition to proposed closure of Wirral surgery
12:30pm Tuesday 8th January 2013 in Letters
IT was very heartening to see a fellow Pensby resident objecting to the proposed closure of the Pensby Surgery in Pensby Road ("Nonsense and Hypocrisy", Globe, January 3).
If more Pensby residents don’t object soon, they will lose their friendly and caring surgery.
I suspect most people would not object to improving the facilities at Heswall, but if there was desire amongst the practice partners to invest a modest financial sum in Pensby, the facility could be brought to a modern standard for GP consultations and nursing appointments.
Surely it is better for a few doctors to attend a few hundred patients at Pensby, rather than a few hundred patients having to trek up to Heswall to see a doctor.
David Steele, Pensby.

You may find in the near future you will be attending Thingwall Surgery, when the GP Consortiums merge into a greater body, even Heswall Surgery will not be required.
Attempts to re-build or even new build Heswall will not be funded by a large GP Consortium, as they are of the belief that it is cheaper to put all out of Hospital Services into one box.
And merge all the various GP administrative organisations into the new premises at St Catherines Birkenhead.
This make selling off and privatising the whole kit and caboodle that much easier for the next Government.
