Wirral Council press office did an excellent job
11:41am Tuesday 8th January 2013 in Letters
I WANT to say a massive thank you to Gill Gwatkin, Tony and the team from the Wirral Borough Council press office, along with Paddy Ashdown, and the Mayor, Gerry Ellis, for inviting me and my family to the special memorial plaque unveiling of my second cousin Albert Laver (Bert) at Woodside promenade.
I so greatly appreciated and was touched by the whole event, and feel that the hard work by all involved made us very honored to be part of such a wonderful day.
We were so pleased of the portrayal during Paddy Ashdown’s speech of Bert and how his courage and bravery was seen with such significance in shortening the Second World War.
Everyone was so nice right from being picked up from my home and throughout that whole day.
You all should be very proud of what you achieved, of which I’m sure my cousin will be looking down with sincere admiration.
Eileen Smith & Family, New Brighton.
