Horror at council’s plans to make more cuts
10:21am Thursday 13th December 2012 in Letters
I HAVE just received, and read with horror, a community news leaflet which sets out our council’s plans to make more cuts.
To my disgust one of their future measures is to remove the discount to pensioners on their council tax.
Where does the council expect these people to find the money to pay this increase? No doubt our pensioners will have to cut back on all the luxury items such as food and heating that they spend their massive pensions on.
I find it astounding that these councillors can attack the most vulnerable in our society, just to balance the books.
May I suggest if the councillors feel so desperate to make savings, they should lead by example and take a cut in their own salaries and expense accounts.

All we've got to argue about is which services and benefits are more important then others and nobody is going to agree on that!
I do agree that 64 does seem to be a lot of councillors and I'm not sure what some of them do but even if we get rid of all of them it woudl save only in the order of 1 or 2 million pounds and the council needs to save £35m a year......
Or we could all go on a quest for Eds' (MIlliband and Balls) magic money tree that's going to fix everything!

Why we already have 64 over priced and usless parasites why bring in two more to replace ones that have perished.
I have respect for those who have died but the truth of the matter is we have too many Councillors and we do not need any more for either the Labour or Conservative Political party, I would urge the electorate of both wards concerned, please do not elect any from the so called Labour, Conservative or Liberal candidates.
Party Politics should be removed absolutly from any sort of Local Government, unless the party members fully financially support their candidates.
The rate payers in Wirral do not and should not pay for Councillors who only represent a political party, lets get them out. ALL OF THEM.
