Wirral 10k road closures badly planned

WITH some 25 miles of coastline and several parks including the Wirral Way, why on earth was it deemed such a good idea to basically make it impossible to get from my home in Wallasey to a customer in Birkenhead at 9am last Sunday when the Wirral 10k run was on?

Most of the link roads, indeed a good 90% were closed and seemingly marshalled by "non-local" gatekeepers that, in short had no idea what alternative roads might be passable.

Their only suggestion was offering me an A4 sheet reiterating the enforced closures.

While I have huge respect and support for the charity's causes involved in the run, I feel this lack of traffic management certainly does not do the event any favours.

Do not forget to add into the mix the ongoing closure of Tower Bridge/Tower Road.

I strongly feel these massive shortcomings will need to be addressed for any future events.
