We must protect Wirral's vulnerable people
11:18am Tuesday 23rd October 2012 in Letters
AS crunch time nears to cuts of almost a third of its budget which will undoubtedly impact on every local resident, how can we be sure the council will get right what is best for Wirral?
Yes we have had the "Have Your Say" and the "Shaping Tomorrow" consultations and it is right and proper the council seek the views of individuals and the many voluntary and support groups that make Wirral a better place to live, their views and suggestions have be taken into account.
However, it is the elected council members who have the final say and the vote as to policy and priority. The question - are they up to the task?
All councillors should put to one side their politics, unite in meaningful, constructive debate to do what is best for Wirral, its residents and communities, and put people first.
Massive cuts are about to hit us all, we have to be brave enough to embrace them and make the best we can of it.
However, there is one exception, the priority must be to protect the most vulnerable members of our society, the rest of us will have to get on with it.

Bromborough.

Oh don't worry Labour have cut £538 from the publicity budget (Department of Adult Social Services) for a meeting for those with a learning disability "Your Future, Your Choice" by providing the flyer on A4. I'm sure other cuts will need to be made that affect vulnerable adults too.
