PLEASE may I, via your letters page, sincerely thank everybody who came to help when my dad was involved in a road traffic collision on July 12.

My dad was behind my daughter and I, driving his own car outside the Red Fox, Thornton Hough when he was involved in a collision with another vehicle.

Staff from the Red Fox, local residents, diners and passers by, including off duty hospital theatre staff, came to help and check on everybody, they waited with us until the emergency services arrived.

The fire officers and police who attended the scene were amazing, they were kind and professional.

My dad was injured in the collision and I took him to Arrowe Park Hospital where he was admitted as an in-patient.

I would sincerely also like to thank the team in A&E and on the ward who looked after him.

I had my young daughter with me, we were in shock, and I don't think I managed to thank everybody properly at the scene.

I know our emergency services are extremely stretched and under resourced, but we are very grateful for all of their help and that of everyone who was there on the evening who assisted in some way.

It was a traumatic, late night for us all and we will never forget your kindness.
