I AM opposed to the recent parking charges like most people that have been implemented and planned for the council throughout the borough.

The article featured in last week's Wirral Globe is proof that there is major opposition to these charges for all the reasons that have been highlighted recently by the number of letters printed by the Globe on the subject.

Sabotaging the machines, I suggest, is not the answer and only adds to further costs.

However, has the council looked at the amount of illegal and pavement parking in residential areas?

There are clear laws which state where vehicles can park, and yet there seems to be nobody to enforce these laws or impose any penalties where and when illegal parking takes place.

It seems parking wardens are restricted to visiting main shopping areas and car parks but the irresponsible and dangerous parking on residential estates is ignored.

Regarding parking on the pavement there is no consideration given to blind people, wheelchair users and parents with prams or buggies.
