FURTHER to the letter penned by "Concerned Hoylake resident" I would like to express my own deep reservations about the proposed golf resort and housing on green belt land.

Others have already mentioned the drawbacks to this development including damage to wildlife and the environment, which can't be avoided when such extensive development takes place with all the necessary infrastructures.

The fact that although there have been those who wax lyrical about job opportunities etc, most of those who will work within the resort will be on zero hours and minimum wages.

The overriding cause of my own dismay is the fact that over and over again we see these initiatives which are all about bringing status to the area and wealth to a few at the top, but does absolutely nothing for those living in poverty or struggling to manage in this area of Wirral.

Surely the mark of any decent society should be the way in which they first address the urgent needs of the poor and vulnerable before focusing on bringing wealth and status to the few?

I have always been a Labour supporter but these kind of initiatives are what i would normally associate with the Tories whose policies I abhor.
