I CANNOT believe the idiotic parking restrictions being proposed by Wirral Council for South Parade, West Kirby.
Just where do they expect the many residents in South Parade without off-road parking to park their cars?
The adjoining side streets are already full overnight and weekends.
To expect residents to pay £20 for overnight parking on the prom is extortionate.
Could there possibly be a hidden agenda here?
Some years ago the council attempted to impose residents parking permits in West Kirby, but were soundly defeated.
Are they now trying to make parking as difficult as possible in order to force the residents of South Parade, Banks Road, Westbourne Road and all intervening side streets to apply for residents permits at £50 per head?
They are also proposing that the double yellow lines in front of the shelters, which they have justified for years to provide an unobstructed view for occupants, be removed and replaced with parking bays directly in front of them.
Is there a single councillor or employee involved in dreaming up these proposals who actually lives in West Kirby and understands the ramifications?
I would urge all residents and visitors to West Kirby to write to the council, or sign one of the petitions which are being drawn up, before June 22 opposing these proposals.
