RE: Phillip Newman's letter Fine for them (Wirral Globe, April 11, 2018).
I am most concerned that Mr Newman considers Green Belt farmland "muddy wasteland."
Where does he think we grow our food, certainly not on housing estates or fire stations, especially ones that have to be moved one mile and costing us over £4m!
What is left of Wirral's open green spaces is fundamental to producing our food and the attractiveness of Wirral and its growing visitor economy.
There are already some 6,000 empty properties and some 16,000 possible homes on brown field land such as Wirral Waters.
How many more are needed?
Surely the issue is why isn’t the council promoting these?
Is, perhaps, Mr Newman supporting the Labour Party’s elitist Hoylake Golf Resort that will desecrate farmland in Hoylake.
Does he imagine that these 160 band H houses (circa £1m each) will be affordable for our children?
