YOUR newspaper has highlighted the cuts to emergency services here on the Wirral.

I have to say the Conservative Party is doing real damage to our local community.

Our services are at breaking point.

Our fantastic police officers, firefighters and paramedics face the frontline every day, trying to keep us safe in the face or massively reduced numbers as a result of their budgets being slashed.

I was out shopping in Wallasey's cherry tree shopping centre recently and spoke to paramedics who are deeply concerned that elderly people who have fallen in their own homes are being left to wait unacceptable amounts of time for an ambulance.

They were angry and demoralised after nearly eight years of austerity.

People’s lives are being put at risk and it appears political opposition like the Wirral Conservatives stand by and watch.

The Home Secretary recently visited Wallasey Town Hall for a chat with the Conservatives but she didn't bother to meet with anyone else and didn't bother to see the devastation her Government are causing to Wirral's emergency services.

I say enough is enough of Conservative cuts.

We the people deserve better than such a callous disregard for our community safety and people’s lives.

I hope austerity ends as soon as possible.
