IN response to Prof Gregg's email (Clear enough?, Globe Mailbox, March 21, 2018) may I say this.

I have no affiliation to any political party in this country, green or otherwise.

I am a layman who came across the video Voices from the gas fields quite by accident.

I notice, in your column, that Etta Jones of Heswall under Fracking facts did take the time to view the video and draw similar conclusions to my own.

Perhaps the professor might take the time to explain the earthquake of 2.3 magnitude on the Fylde coast directly attributed to drilling by Cuadrilla at their Preese Hall site near Blackpool.

Or the four-mile long eruption of liquid sand in Colorado directly attributed to fracking.

He might also like to explain why countries like Canada, France, Germany, Netherlands, Bulgaria, Ireland and quite recently even Scotland have banned fracking.

The use of the emotive terms 'do you want your lights to go out, lose your central heating etc' smacks of the same scaremongering tactics used by various media outlets prior the EU referendum.

Thank God the 'silent' majority of the British people saw through that.

All I can say to the readers of this column in closing is simply this.

The state of the environment left to future generations is entirely in your hands.

Do not take the professor’s, or my, word for what is true or not in this instance.

Please do your own research and act in accordance with your own conscience in the best interests of future generations.
