I WRITE with some answers for your correspondent P Griffiths Answers now in Globe Mailbox on December 6.
The Arriva bus drivers have actually been taking strike action for two months.
Griffiths cannot say “Everyone agrees they have overstepped the mark.” I am just one that disagrees with that assertion.
Griffiths asks why the strike. The employer makes huge profits each year. The drivers produce that profit. They are simply asking for a modest pay rise which the employer is refusing, hence the action. The drivers do not want to inconvenience the public, but have their own and their families’ livelihoods to protect.
If Griffiths wants to point a finger, let it be in the direction of the employer who could settle this dispute immediately.
I support the Arriva drivers.
