SOME three or four years ago I enquired, through the Globe, if any of your readers had any knowledge or memorabilia of the old Birkenhead Wanderers Rugby Club which existed in the late 19th and early 20th centuries.
I was fortunate in that several readers responded with family memories and items of interest from those days.
Together with other information I was able to glean from different sources, I was able to put a considerable document together.
Unfortunately, it did not prove to be publishable.
Therefore I presented a copy of it to the Wirral Archive and I would encourage any one interested to pay the archive a visit to see the document which is a book in the Sports and Leisure section.
Their their address is Canning Street, Birkenhead, CH41 1ND.
Telephone number is 0151 606 2929.
The document's full title is They were working men not Carnegies -The history of Birkenhead Wanderers Rugby Football Club.
I would be much obliged if you could publish this information, as I am sure some of your readers would be interested in seeing the finished article.
The Wirral Archives are very open for people to visit them but people must make an appointment first.
