I AM responding to two letters about the proposed Hoylake golf resort in the Wirral Globe on November 15 from Keith Robinson and Philip Newman.
Golf courses do support wildlife but they are managed spaces – mown grass to which pesticides, herbicides and fertiliser have been added.
The land at the moment is farmed but not too intensively with water courses and drainage ditches all of which are excellent for wildlife.
With the golf development and the building of roads, a hotel and 160 houses on the site the hydrology of the area would change.
This would be detrimental for wildlife as would the disturbance of vehicles and people visiting the site.
This land is green belt - land that creates a buffer zone between suburbs and the countryside, conserving wildlife whilst giving residents relatively easy access to the fresh air of the countryside.
It is imperative that we preserve this rare and precious tract of land and say "no" to the golf resort.
