IS there a more incompetent council on this earth right now than Wirral?

I ask because, for the last 18 months and counting, I have been trying to get them to sort out the ongoing issue of broken street lights in Wallasey and Birkenhead.

I have contacted Streetscene over 30 times since April last year and keep getting the same excuses: budget / funding cuts, lack of suitable contractors, etc.

Priorities would appear to be lavishing huge sums of money on pointless new managerial jobs, as well as Hoylake golf resort and other vanity projects and PR exercises such as the wasteful Wirral View newspaper - all because leader Phil Davies continues to live in his own ivory tower.

Other recent examples of their sheer ineptitude: I have written and emailed complaints to various divisional managers; all go ignored.

I am still waiting to hear from them after escalating a general complaint about poor communication and value for money from the council - check the irony - dating back to May this year to stage two.

I have written letters to councillor Stuart Whittingham about street lights and other highway issues; again all ignored.

An enquiry about tree pollarding took all of five months to be addressed.

Another about clearing weeds from the back alleys has still yet to be addressed after three months.

Street light repairs - I was absolutely dismayed to see that the 'Phase 1' list that they have just recently published in Wirral Globe does not even include a single one of the 23 streets and over 140 lights that I have repeatedly flagged to the highways department that need addressing This beggars belief.
