IT is so disappointing to read of the negativity towards the planned golf resort in Hoylake.
I have lived in Hoylake or its environs since 1960 and the land in question is ripe for development.
It is not pristine farm land nor an area of national or, even, local beauty.
If the campaigners, who want to block the development, feel the green belt is the "home to a wide variety of wildlife" I can assure them that a golf course is a haven for that wildlife.
This project will be a wonderful boost for the economy.
In the short term it will provide much needed employment in order to build the houses, the hotel and the course itself.
In the long term there will be a need for dozens of jobs to keep the hotel and course running.
With the provision of new housing, residents may well wish to move out of the centre of Hoylake to the near countryside thus, potentially, freeing up affordable housing in the town for younger people to buy their first home.
The scheme is a positive one.
Let us all work together, sort out the glitches that will inevitably arise and enjoy the renaissance of the area as a whole.
