MAY I express my thanks to Mike Hall for raising the issue of the qualifications, or lack thereof, of our "leaders."

Perhaps the greatest worry we should have is that our own Cllr Phil Davies has been put in charge of Economic Regeneration for the whole of the Liverpool City Region!

It would be good to know what qualifications he has for this vital role, since his insistence on pursuing the Hoylake Golf Resort and now the Hoylake By-Pass at apparently any cost is most troubling.

Will all of the boroughs in the Liverpool City Region be getting "Economically Regenerated" with their own Golf Resort and new road?

Cllr Davies' explanation is long overdue of how the millions of pounds that have been spent over the 15-plus years on the Hoylake Golf Resort have generated any economic recovery ... or will do in the future.

Surely, it is time for the local Constituent Labour Parties to stand up and deal with this council they have spawned.

This Labour council closes respite care and special needs schools, claims lack of funds for New Ferry yet has millions of pounds to spend on its vanity Hoylake Golf Resort and still have £100m in the bank.

Is this now the definition of the Labour Party?

Is this a new type of socialism designed to make Mrs Thatcher seem a Liberal?
